When should I compete? Should I compete!?
We think competition can be a great means of advancing your skill set, but it isn’t necessary or required! Our main goal is to focus on your self-defense, physical health, mental health and make sure you are spending time in a fun environment overall!
Competition whether it be in Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, or Muay Thai can be an exciting way to increase your training with a focused goal. There are levels of competition from beginner to expert in each sport and we recommend speaking with one of our coaches about your progress and when they think you should compete based on the individual.
If we must put a timeline, most people should be training for 6-8 months with 2-4 sessions a week, so they have a strong understanding of the basics and how to keep themselves safe. Along with this timeline you’ll create consistency and confidence in your physical and mental abilities for the sport!
